Ingredients

  • 1 - 2 pounds of chicken breasts tenders
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 sleeve of Ritz crackers - crushed into crumbs
  • 1 cup of shredded coconut
  • Garlic salt - to season
  • Pepper - to season
  • Spray Olive oil

Instructions

  • First, place the cup of milk in a shallow dish,

  • add the egg and whisk together until blended.

  • Pulse the Ritz crackers in a blender until they're crumbs, and place them in a shallow dish.

  • Place the shredded coconut in a shallow dish, and place all three dishes close. Sprinkle the Chicken tenders with the garlic salt and pepper.

  • Dip the tenders one at a time into the egg/milk mixture, and then into the cracker crumbs, and back into the egg/milk mixture, and into the coconut.

  • Place the tenders in the Air Fryer basket, and spray them with the Olive oil.

  • Place the basket in the Fryer, and set the temperature to 380, and the time to 5 minutes.

  • When the Air Fryer goes off, turn the tenders, and spray the other side with the Olive oil, and set the time to 10 minutes.

  • Halfway through the cooking (at 5 minutes) turn the tenders again and let finish cooking.

  • When the Air Fryer goes off, plate the tenders, and serve with Orange Marmalade on the side. Enjoy!

Notes

When you're dipping the tenders in the egg/milk/cracker crumbs and shredded coconut, place a large piece of waxed paper on the counter, and set your shallow dishes on the waxed paper, so you keep the raw chicken off your countertop. Place the Air Fryer just at the edge of the waxed paper so you have it handy to place the tenders in. If you only have 1 pound of chicken tenders, you'll probably only have one batch of tenders to cook.

If you have 2 pounds, you'll probably have two batches to cook in the Fryer.

1 pound makes 2 servings
2 pounds makes 4 -5 servings

FAQs

How long should I leave chicken in the air fryer? ›

The amount of time it takes to cook chicken in an air fryer will vary based on the size of your chicken breasts.
  1. Small Breasts (5 to 7 ounces): 7 to 10 minutes.
  2. Medium Breasts (8 to 10 ounces): 10 to 12 minutes.
  3. Large Breasts (11 ounces or more): 12 to 16 minutes.

How many pieces of chicken can you put in an air fryer? ›

You can cook as many chicken breasts at a time as will fit in the basket of your Air Fryer. You just don't want them overlapping.

Does chicken cook faster in the air fryer or oven? ›

It's fast: Compared to an oven, chicken cooks quite efficiently in the air fryer. Typically, you'll shave off about 30 percent to 40 percent of the cooking time by using an air fryer. Again, this is thanks to its compact size, which allows hot air to circulate more rapidly.

Can I put raw chicken in an air fryer? ›

Air fry at 390°F for 12 minutes, rotating the chicken once in the middle of the cook time. Again, this is for raw chicken (or raw frozen chicken that has been thawed). The cook time would likely be less for fully cooked store-bought chicken tenders.

What is the best temperature to cook chicken in an air fryer? ›

Place the chicken on the air fryer basket / grate in an even layer, leaving a bit of space for air to circulate around. Air fry the chicken at 415 degrees for 10 minutes. If you have larger pieces of chicken, you'll want to go closer to 13 minutes. You're looking for an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

How do you keep chicken from drying out in an air fryer? ›

The #1 tip for the best chicken breasts in an air fryer is: Don't overcook them! Chicken breasts should be cooked to 160°F, but if you cook them all the way to that temperature in the air fryer, carryover cooking will take them beyond that temp and cause them to dry out.

Can you put aluminum foil in an air fryer? ›

Foil is safe to use in an air fryer so long as you follow three basic rules: never let foil touch the heating element; make sure the foil is weighted so it doesn't blow around the basket; and avoid contact with acidic ingredients, which can cause the foil to leach onto your food.

Do you flip chicken in the air fryer? ›

Cook at 360° for 9 minutes. Then flip the chicken breast over and cook for another 9 minutes. Larger chicken breasts need more cook time, and smaller ones need less time. Open the air fryer immediately so it doesn't continue cooking in the heat.

Why is my chicken tough in air fryer? ›

Overcooking:Overcooking is a common reason for tough chicken. If chicken is cooked for too long or at too high a temperature, the proteins in the meat can tighten and become dry, resulting in a tough texture. It's important to cook chicken to the recommended internal temperature and not exceed it.

Is it healthier to bake or air fry chicken? ›

Because cooking in the oven and air frying utilize similar heating techniques (i.e., hot air), food will generally end up with the same nutrient profile regardless of the appliance you choose.

Is it better to fry or air fry chicken? ›

Do I put water in air fryer for chicken? ›

A little water can also be helpful in avoiding burned grease at the bottom of your air fryer. Small amounts of water at the bottom of your air fryer can help catch any food drippings or food particles inside of the air fryer during the cooking process and prevent the formation of smoke.
